Central to Rev. Anya's current ministry is the honest confrontation necessary to dismantle white supremacy, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, and sexism.

Guiding Our Journey
Senior Co-Minister
Rev. Scott Sammler-Michael
A "Religious, Naturalist Mystic," Rev Scott strives to embody service to our holy mission to build Beloved Community, together, in covenant.
Revs. Anya and Scott met during divinity school and were married in 2007. They have wanted to serve as a co-ministry team since they met and fell in love. They were advised by other clergy couples to serve separate congregations for their first settlements. That sage advice is appreciated as they had time to learn their own strengths and weaknesses and attune their own ministerial identities.
In Co-Ministry they rely on one another’s counsel and trust one another’s wisdom. They read one another’s sermons and encourage and challenge one another to be their best selves.
In our congregation Rev. Anya focuses on worship, justice, membership, small groups, communications, and the internship program, while Rev. Scott focuses on religious education, governance, facilities, and connections to our wider Unitarian Universalist Association.
Beyond our congregation, Rev. Anya serves as co-president of the Board at the Meadville Lombard Theological School and offers her services as a Good Officer to the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association, guiding colleagues through crisis and conflict. Rev. Scott serves as the vice president of the Montclair Interfaith Clergy Association and runs the Ministerial Formation Network in the Metro NY region, guiding and mentoring Unitarian Universalist seminarians.
When they take a weekend off, Revs. Anya and Scott like to connect with their friends and relatives, explore new natural environments, see live music, and drink in art in all of its forms.
