The Perinatal Health Equity Initiative is a grassroots community organization dedicated to eliminating health care disparities in Black infant and maternal health. Founded by Dr. Nastassia Davis in 2018, this nonprofit directly empowers Black and Brown women and their children in Essex County and New Jersey. Perinatal Health Equity Initiative also participates in advocacy, education, and research. Dr. Davis collaborates with several local organizations and hosts Black Breastfeeding Week in New Jersey, an impactful series of programs in August. Happily, they dedicated a new office at 280 South Harrison Street, East Orange, furthering their work encompassing justice, equity and compassion.
