On That Note – January 2019

From Markus Grae-Hauck, Music Director

Have you been wishing to join the Holiday Choir (because it would be really fun to sing with such a large group and orchestra)… but you just couldn’t make all the rehearsals in the crazy month of December? Here is another opportunity for you: on Easter Sunday, April 21st, we will sing the Missa Gaia (Earth Mass). You have already heard a couple of movements from it in the fall (the Canticle Of Brother Sun on October 7th, and Agnus Dei on December 2nd), but we are planning to sing the whole mass in its entirety. So this will be also our first ever Music Sunday. AND as our special guest, we are going to welcome Jim Scott, a singer and guitarist well known in the UU music world (he wrote several of the songs in our hymnals, including “Gather The Spirit”) and one of the principal composers of Missa Gaia.

How do you participate? Just come to choir rehearsals (Wednesdays 7:30-9 pm in the sanctuary). Of course, we are also going to sing on Sunday mornings once or twice a month as usual, so we’ll be working on music for those services as well. And we have a couple of other events coming up before April:

Sunday, February 10th, 4 pm – Interfaith Music Festival

Saturday, March 9th, 2 pm – NJ Faith Action MUUsic Fest at UU Princeton

Join us any time! You’ll be part of a diverse group of people with different levels of musical ability and experience. The only requirement for membership in the Chalice Choir is that you enjoy singing.

Happy 2019!
