From Doug Andrews, Board of Trustees
The Board held its annual retreat in September with Revs. Anya and Scott in which the Board rolled up its sleeves to determine how best to serve and lead the congregation as we head into a new, exciting phase of UUCM’s 119-year old history. One of the key actions was the Board’s prioritization of tasks for the 2017-18 congregation year. After much reflection, visioning, and debate, the Board chose the following as its four top priorities for the coming congregational year:
- Financial Stability – develop long-term strategies and objectives to secure the financial resources needed to sustain UUCM as an institution committed to transformation and social justice.
- Communications– create a coherent, sustainable framework of internal and external communications that includes the UUCM website, social media, media/public interaction, and regular communication with congregants.
- Organizational Structure– analyze, document, and standardize the congregational and professional structure in order to achieve institutional transparency, clear lines of reporting, and accountability.
- Strategic Planning – begin a strategic planning process that looks at models of successful congregations and other not-for-profit associations, followed by recommendations for timing and involvement of staff and members.
