BY REV. SCOTT SAMMLER-MICHAEL, SENIOR CO-MINISTER
UUCM will continue its proud tradition as a Teaching Congregation next
year when we bring on board Sabrina Trupia (they, them) as a one-year, full-time Ministerial Intern. Due to COVID, there were fewer applicants than we normally have. Fewer folks seemed willing to move or make big decisions during the pandemic; we were not sure we would find someone. However, we got lucky, and Sabrina seems a great fit. I will be Sabrina’s supervisor, and we are still assembling our Internship Team.
Here is Sabrina’s bio:
“Hi everyone, my name is Sabrina Trupia (they/them/theirs) and I will be the intern minister at UUCM starting this coming August. Right now I live on the Illinois side of the greater St. Louis Metro area with my spouse (Ed), daughter (Isabella), and two adopted cats (Bo and Cap’n). I was born and lived in Palermo, Sicily (Italy) until I was 20, then moved to North America to attend university. My family and I travel to Italy as time and money allows it, because much of my family still lives there. I have a masters of Science degree in earth sciences and a PhD in chemistry; ministry is my third career. My first two careers were as a geologist and then as a chemist/biochemist. Most recently, I was the senior scientist and laboratory director at AB Mauri, the parent company for Fleischmanns Yeast. Currently I am a student at Eden Seminary in St. Louis, where I will be graduating with my M.Div in May of this year. In my spare time (which isn’t a lot!) I like taking walks, cooking, reading, and craft activities like stitching or collage, especially when done with family or a group of friends. I am very excited to be the ministerial intern at UU Montclair, and I look forward to meeting you in person soon!”
Let us prepare to warmly welcome Sabrina and make their time here rewarding, powerful and fun.
