Our Ministers

Our congregation was founded in 1897 by a group of women seeking liberal religious education for their children and has a history of long-term settled ministry.

Senior Co-Minister

Rev. Anya Sammler-Michael

Central to Rev. Anya's current ministry is the honest confrontation necessary to dismantle white supremacy, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, and sexism.

Senior Co-Minister

Rev. Scott Sammler-Michael

A "Religious, Naturalist Mystic," Rev Scott strives to embody service to our holy mission to build Beloved Community, together, in covenant.

Until we meet again, virtually or otherwise, you are in our hearts.

“Whose Nationalism?”

“Whose Nationalism?”

July 6, 2025

"Whose Nationalism?" — led by the Rev. Anya Sammler-Michael, senior co-minister. That's right. Invite your friends. We are coming at this straight on. Nationalism can tear a country apart... and it is anything but holy. This is how to fight for home.

“I Was Bound Free”

“I Was Bound Free”

June 29, 2025

"I Was Bound Free," led by Rev. Anya Sammler-Michael. We are free not because we are unfettered, unaffiliated, and unallied. We are free because we have ties, because we are linked to a reality greater than our small and limited selves.

“Inner Empire”

“Inner Empire”

June 22, 2025

Led by guest minister Rev. Mary Tiebout. From ancient history to modern times, not everyone living under an imperial regime has surrendered to its demands. Amid concerns about the current rise of religious and political powers, we turn to sources that remind us where we can find the strength to stand our ground on behalf of ourselves and others, and when in our lives we have done that.

Molly, UUCM Religious Education graduate

I am proud to have grown up in this congregation. I learned here to become a compassionate and passionate advocate for social justice on all fronts.

Join us as we counter white supremacy, fight climate change, protect voting rights, witness border injustices, and more.

Share your gifts and help us build Beloved Community.

Whether it is in a classroom, in worship, planting flowers, or on the pledge team, we need your special skills!
