Our Ministers

Our congregation was founded in 1897 by a group of women seeking liberal religious education for their children and has a history of long-term settled ministry.
Rev. Anya Sammler-Michael

Senior Co-Minister

Rev. Anya Sammler-Michael

Central to Rev. Anya's current ministry is the honest confrontation necessary to dismantle white supremacy, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, and sexism.

Rev. Scott Sammler-Michael

Senior Co-Minister

Rev. Scott Sammler-Michael

A "Religious, Naturalist Mystic," Rev Scott strives to embody service to our holy mission to build Beloved Community, together, in covenant.

Until we meet again, virtually or otherwise, you are in our hearts.

A Leap of Faith

A Leap of Faith

July 28, 2024

"A Leap of Faith" — led by Laura Kushner, worship leader. A story of change. Sometimes you just know it's the right time to jump in feet first, without question.

On the Banks of the Alabama River

On the Banks of the Alabama River

July 14, 2024

"While on the Banks of the Alabama River" — led by Wendy McNeil, worship leader. Today's sermon is about Wendy's experience resting on the Alabama River for close to three hours, and for that time forgetting the river’s brutal history and meaning for Black Americans.

Miracle of Miracles

Miracle of Miracles

July 7, 2024

"Miracle of Miracles" — led by Laura Anthony, worship leader. Cynicism is very hip these days, and very tempting. In the age where everything can be explained, where the library of Alexandria is accessible to most of us, where rationality is allegedly the sensical response to phenomena, where we're way too savvy for Divine Providence - are there any miracles left?

Molly, UUCM Religious Education graduate

I am proud to have grown up in this congregation. I learned here to become a compassionate and passionate advocate for social justice on all fronts.

Join us as we counter white supremacy, fight climate change, protect voting rights, witness border injustices, and more.

Share your gifts and help us build Beloved Community.

Whether it is in a classroom, in worship, planting flowers, or on the pledge team, we need your special skills!
