Thank you beloved UUCM Community 1897!

“Thank you beloved UUCM Community 1897!” That’s what I had written on my birthday cake this year when I celebrated with UUCM friends on a Saturday film evening. It is fulfilling to serve this congregation for over 30 years, and I was happy to honor UUCM’s (and my) longevity with this community. I’ve known Jerry Fried, Archives-co-chair, and his wife, Karen, for over 30 years too! It’s great to have him as a partner in this important work. Along with volunteers Dianne Sullivan, Catherine Omyelemukwe, and Becky Doggett, we prepare our records for digitizing and safekeeping in the cloud.

We now have a website presence on UUCM’s website under the Serve Ministry section. Please check out our 100 Year Anniversary book.

Our 50+ scrapbooks, well-kept records of newspaper clippings and other congregation items, are completely digitized. We are getting closer to completing the digitization of our Board of Trustees Minutes and ascertaining which years are missing. We digitized Board of Trustees Minutes from 1930- 1989 decades, as well as plaques and larger photographs.

We made progress on the aptly-named “Long Files,” files our historian predecessors had not categorized, and are working to digitize these into folders already in electronic format.

Still to do: Lots! Including digitizing Unity Concerts materials, after review and de-duplicating records. Want to help? Please reach out to us at archives@uumontclair.org.
