Peter Arian would like to light a candle for remembrance for Michael Novins who unexpectedly passed away this week. Michael, one of the smartest and funniest people I’ve ever known, was a best friend since I was 3. 

We light this candle for Patrick Lyoya, beloved son to Peter and Dorcas Lyoya, who was shot on April 4th in Grand Rapids Michigan by a police officer during a traffic stop. We bear witness and assert in defiance of this evidence – Black Lives Matter. 

We light this candle for Susie Roman Luna’s grandmother, Elpedia, who rose this past week to her grace. Her memory and the resonance of her presence continue to nurture her children and grandchildren. Her blessings will never be extinguished.
