Louise Walton, Desiree and Devany Kurtti
Dionne Ford lit a candle of remembrance for her grandmother, Louise Walton, born 108 years ago on March 26th. She lived to be 102. She also lit candles of celebration for her daughters’ birthdays. Desiree Kurtti turned 23 on March 1st and Devany Kurtti turned 20 on March 28th.

We lit a candle for Nina Cooke John in tribute to her magnificent contribution to the world – Newark’s Harriet Tubman Monument in Harriet Tubman square.

We lit a candle in celebration of Kira Pipkins who wrestled on Saturday for a fourth straight state championship and returned home to a reception on the steps of Bloomfield High School.

We lit a candle of joy for the NJEA announcing that they are renaming the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Conference from now forward to the Carol Watchler LGBTQIA+ Advocacy Conference for a life of advocacy. UUs are awesome!
