Animal Blessings

Saturday, October 5, 2019
4:00 PM on our front lawn

We will gather with all ages and all species. Bring your pets or pictures of your pets, or your dear stuffed animals.Volunteers will be present to support the engagement of the animals.

Note that it is important for pet owners to decide whether this experience will suit your pets personalities. It is recommended by animal professionals that cats not attend – as most cats would be unnerved by the activity and presence of other species.

This year we will have volunteers from Orphaned Pets join us for the Blessing. They will be accepting donations of: Adult and puppy small bite dry food, Biscuits/treats, Bleach, Laundry Detergent, Paper towels, 13 gallon garbage bags, Wee wee pads, Gift cards for any pet stores.

This service draws from the inspiration of St. Francis of Assisi. In this Unitarian Universalist version we will take a moment to grieve the animals that have died, share our gratitude for the animals that make our lives better, bless the animals that make their home among us, and commit to treating our animals like partners not things.

To facilitate the Animal Blessing Service, the driveway at UUCM will need to be cleared of all cars between 2:30 and 4:00 PM. Handicapped parkers that usually use the driveway are asked to secure alternate parking methods for the Animal Blessing – securing a volunteer to drop off and pick up or using the adjacent paid lot. We apologize for the inconvenience, and the animals and families that will be gathering outside are grateful for your sacrifice.

Rain date will be Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 4:00 PM.
