We will be having an Animal Blessing on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 2:00 PM.
We will gather with all ages and all species. Bring your pets or pictures of your pets, or your dear stuffed animals. All will be blessed. In case of inclement weather, we will gather in Fletcher Hall. Volunteers will be present to support the engagement of the animals. Note that it is important for pet owners to decide whether this experience will suit your pets personalities. It is recommended by animal professionals that cats not attend – as most cats would be unnerved by the activity and presence of other species.
This service draws from the inspiration of St. Francis of Assisi. In this Unitarian Universalist version we will take a moment to grieve the animals that have died, share our gratitude for the animals that make our lives better, bless the animals that make their home among us, and commit to treating our animals like partners not things.
At the Animal Blessing we will collect these items to support the “Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter” – Kong toys, Cat toys, Ceramic food bowls. All your donations are welcome and will serve animals in need.
