Religious Education Looking Forward – October 2013

It is a wonderful feeling to have RE programming underway with engaged lessons and good works abounding.   For instance, our Pre-K class has been busy creating gift bags with kind messages to share with those served by the Caring & Sharing Committee. Our Neighboring Faiths Group (6th and 7th grade) has started their trips to local houses of worship. The Neighboring Faiths program, in particular, is unique to the UU RE world. It gives our children and youth both a context for our principles and an opportunity to live them. Be sure to ask all the kids about their experiences in RE. You will be awed!

We have had several new families who have shown an interest or registered for RE at UUCM the last few weeks. To help smooth the way, we are offering a brief New Parent orientation on Sunday, October 13th at 10:30AM for any families new to the RE experience here at UUCM. Those of you not so new to RE are also welcome.

Sunday, October 20th is the Montclair CROP Hunger Walk. Be sure to look for the sign up table at Coffee Hour in order to be part of this community event to raise funds to help end hunger at home and around the world.

Sunday, October 27th is our annual Dia de los Muertos event. Kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade will start in Children’s Chapel and then move on to activities and crafts in celebration of the day!

Keep your ears and eyes open for our other upcoming events! In November the Coming of Age class (9th grade) will be taking a field trip toBostonwith Rev. Judy Tomlinson, Youth Facilitated Services will begin and the Holidayseason will be in full swing with Thanksgiving deliciousness and then Holiday Pageant in December. More information will be given in the weeks ahead.

We want you all to have a chance to be part of the excitement. If you have any questions, or want to be part of the festivities, please be in touch.  You can reach me at 973-744-6276 Ext. 18 or at secretary.uucm@verizon.net.

May your Autumn be filled with color and sunshine!

See you Sunday,
