At UUCM we have an outstanding group of people who help fill the 70 (or so) volunteer Religious Education (RE) opportunities, offering their time and talents. Just to name a couple, Kathie Reilly, besides teaching Pre-K,decorates the glass cabinet in the Narthex to recognize the milestones of the congregation. She also assembled the beautiful décor in Fletcher Hall for RE Sunday after we recognized all the good work our RE contributors had done. Another of our members, Kim Ticehurst, provided many free hours and as a result, the hallway RE closets and the Teacher’s closet are more user friendly. Thank you all!
There are several other ways to connect with the RE program through service, including (but not limited to):
- Teaching RE – We need several people committing only 15 class days between September and June for the elementary school grades, particularly during the 9 AM service.
- Bulletin Board Decorating – There are three that could use immediate attention.
- Collating Teacher and classroom packets in early August
- Curating and managing the RE Library
- Greeting new visiting RE Families
Find the one that works for you, maybe your Jr. or Sr. youth as well, and let me know how you too can help.
It may be the lazy, hazy days of summer, but there is plenty happening around the RE office. We are running a summer Sunday program and revving up for September, which includes coordinating calendars and prepping for Start Up Saturday, the RE Teacher/Leader orientation and prep day, where much of the fine tuning happens for our children’s teaching teams.
For Your Calendar!
September 6th Start Up Saturday!
