News from the Board – March 2017

Our pledge drive is kicking into high gear. If you haven’t made your pledge yet, it could be just that “I never seem to get around to it.” But often, particularly for new members, it may be that you don’t know how much to pledge.  How much is the right amount for you?

As much as we would like to, we actually can’t tell you. We can’t tell you what to believe, and we can’t tell you how much it should cost you to attend UUCM. Some hard mathematical figures we can give you are the following: It costs approximately $2,000 per adult member per year just to keep the lights on and the building running.  Our aspirational goal is that members pay three percent of income.

We have important work to do. We need to be there for each other in our significant phases of life. We need to educate our children and ourselves, and we need to take a stand on the issues of our day. We need to ensure that in the doing we are meeting our obligations to compensate our staff fairly.

Here’s how much to give: give an amount that becomes a source of pride for you.
