This month we start to emerge from all of this cold weather and snow. Like the emerging leaves of the bulbs the children planted in February, our children and youth will be getting out into the world again.
Kindergarteners through 2nd grade will begin OWL (Our Whole Lives) sexuality education program. This time-tested program builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, fosters healthy relationships and improves decision making at all age levels.
Following on the heels of the Sr. Youth’s Sleep in a Box program at the end of February, the Jr. and Sr. Youth will participate in the annual YSOP (Youth Service Opportunities Project). Participants learn a little about what it is like to be homeless. More importantly, they have the opportunity to meet with homeless people face to face and realize that they and we are not so different.
Finally, energized by the RE survey results we have collected and additional feedback gathered, our teaching teams will be having small group discussions throughout the month to review the program year and to gear up for the adventures coming our way for the 2015/2016 program year.
