VOLUNTEERS Sought for Montclair Sanctuary Alliance Project

Undocumented immigrants are in an increased state of fear as ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) arrests and deports immigrants who have been long-standing, law-abiding members of our communities. In Montclair, synagogue Bnai Keshet is now ready to provide physical sanctuary for an immigrant individual or family who is in danger of deportation. B’nai Keshet has undertaken this Sanctuary project in collaboration with other faith communities. Members of the Montclair Sanctuary Alliance include First Congregational Church and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Montclair. Volunteers will be needed in several capacities: meal preparation, errands, language interpretation, etc. If you would like to volunteer to help a sheltered immigrant, contact Diane Finn who is acting as liaison to The Montclair Sanctuary Alliance. If interested, please contact Diane to volunteer or for information about the current status, project needs and upcoming events.
