It is midwinter – we probably have about six months of winter left! In my opinion, it is something to celebrate whether it’s the Pagan celebration of Imbolc, the Christian celebration of St. Brigid’s Day or everyone‘s Groundhog Day. And during this season in the month of February, Religious Education at the U provides a unique curriculum for the children of the congregation that falls along the lines of the congregational theme.
This month our children will be offered presentations and discussions on how the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Montclair has built a culture of transformation in our communities starting all the way back to its founding in 1897 through their social justice and environmental programs of today. They will also have an opportunity to start imagining the UUCM of the future. What do they see as a way for UUCM to transform and meet the future head on?
Here is what you can expect from the February Focus Curricula this month:
- February 1st – There will be visitors to the classrooms.
- February 8th – A play written by UUCM member Susan Reinhard and performed by our Jr. and Sr. Youth.
- February 15th – After Children’s Chapel, a discussion and workbook will be provided for our children to consider the future of our congregation.
- February 22nd – Our intergenerational service.
And a few additional dates for your calendar…
February 1st and 24th – K-2 OWL Orientations
February 20th – 4th/5th Grade Principle Project Friday Night Planning and Pizza
February 22nd – Intergenerational Service and Youth Facilitated Service
With the midwinter season we are at the perfect point to consider helping out in RE. Specifically we could use your help with our youngest Pre-K kids. Please let me know if you are interested in being involved.
See you Sunday,
