This is planning season. With the New Year, we look ahead to all the activities and adventures down the road. You don’t want to miss any of the important events. So get out your brand new 2015 calendars and circle the dates that are important for you and your family these next few months.
This month the Kindergarten and 1st grade will be discussing covenant and forgiveness. 2nd and 3rd grades (as well as 4th and 5th) are investigating stories and characters of the Old Testament from Adam and Eve to David. Using the Compass Points curriculum, the 6th and 7th grades will look at who Jesus was. The 8th grade Our Whole Lives (OWL) sexuality programming gets underway and our 9th grade COAers are busy meeting with their mentors and have a schedule of projects to keep track of.
Undoing Racism Sunday is January 25th. All RE will recognize the role of our congregation specifically and the UU denomination generally, working with the larger community towards justice and equality in our work, play and governance. As January winds down, parents of children Kindergarten through 2nd grade should start thinking ahead to the Early Elementary OWL orientations in February and the class starting and the Youth Service Project in March.
This full calendar also provides opportunity. There is opportunity to participate, to teach, to organize, to teach and create in our rich and vibrant UUCM environment.
