From Laura Wilson on behalf of the Board of Trustees
The winter holiday season is always a busy time at UUCM with so many special activities and celebrations. In the background, your Board of Trustees, teams and staff continue to do a variety of things that we want to share:
- Our facilities continue to need maintenance and repair. Recently, a boiler circulating pump needed replacement. New stage rigging and curtains were installed in Fletcher Hall. Thanks to the Facilities Team and Reverend Scott for keeping our buildings attractive and well-functioning.
- An Emergency Preparedness Task Force is meeting develop a response to events such as an active shooter. This Task Force has attended workshops held by the Department of Homeland Security and is meeting with the Montclair Police Department to develop our procedures.
- The Strategic Planning Task Force continues its work to draft a Vision Statement and ensuing Goals and Action Steps to make that vision a reality. As a reminder, our Proposed Mission Statement is: Grounded in faith, we come together to nurture the soul, inspire hope, and bring into being a more just and loving world.
- We are grateful to our UUCM staff who keeps our congregation running smoothly all year and to members and friends who recognize this dedication by contributing to gifts for 9 staff members.
And, looking ahead, the UUA General Assembly (our annual, national denominational gathering) is planned for June 19-24, 2019, in Spokane, WA. Please mark your calendars and consider being a delegate (in person or remotely). More to come about how you can participate!
