Annual UU Auction

The Auction is our single largest fundraising event and its success depends on the enthusiastic turnout we always have. Donate, Bid, bring Food, Volunteer-most important is your Presence!  It’s an awesome night of commUUnity, good cheer and fundraising for the Congregation.

Our Annual Fall Auction is coming on Saturday, November 17, 2018!

Surfin’ UUSA Beach Party!

Get your Hawaiian shirt out of the closet and join your fellow UU’s at the best party of the year. It is our biggest fundraiser and a wonderful opportunity to create community. Doors open at 5:30 PM. It cannot be missed! Here’s how you can help:

REGISTER: Be sure to register to get a paddle number and bid. Visit the Auction table during Connection Cafe (it takes seconds) or you can register the day of the event.

WHAT  to DONATE: It is best to donate dinners, parties, services, experiences, stays at a guest house or cabin, hikes, trips – experiences are better for the auction than stuff. We don’t have the space for a lot of physical things to sell, those things do not raise much money, and they do not build community. Things handmade by congregants are welcome.

HOW  to DONATEVisit the Auction website to offer your event and look at the parties and other goodies that will be open for bidding. Log into the website at togetherauction.com/uumontclair. Having trouble logging in or need help? Contact Nick Lewis (ozballnick@gmail.com) or Mike Mernin (merninmj@gmail.com) for assistance or advice.

VOLUNTEER: A successful auction is a group endeavor. Please consider how you might help, whether it is by bringing food or chipping in some other way. Sign up to volunteer by clicking here

CHILDCARE: Your children will be entertained while you have fun. We need to know whether your kids will be coming. Contact Nick Lewis or Mike Mernin.

What if I don’t have a lot of money to Spend?  We are dedicated to making our Auction open to all our members and friends. That is why we have a SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. We want to maximize the community building potential of the auction, so if you are not able to spend a lot of money at the auction, simply contact Reverend Scott and he will make sure you get a Scholarship – allowing you to participate without payment. And if you have a talent to offer as a donation, like cooking, babysitting, fixing things, etc, that is a great way to participate.

What If I Cannot Be There in Person Nov 17? I already have plans …
Great question! We all have busy schedules. If you are not free Sat Nov 17, please find someone you trust to bid on behalf. Peruse the offerings, tell your friend what t bid on, and for how much, and they will bid for you! If you need help finding a proxy, let Rev. Scott know and he will match you with someone you can trust.

This is a Family Event – We intend on having lots of fun. We also want to make sure all our guests enjoy themselves and feel safe. So come and plan on having some good food and drink, while remembering that this is an All-Congregation event in our sacred space. There are many among us who do not drink alcohol or are in recovery, so we will assure they feel welcome and cared for.
