“The Color of Law”

Our Independence Day Weekend service examines systemic racism. Many appeal to “The Rule of Law” in efforts to discourage people from protesting for their rights. But the Law has a bias, just like the human heart. Join Rev Scott as we explore how racist tyrannies like the Confederacy, Nazi Germany, and South Africa all perverted the Law to legitimize hatred.

Rev Scott would like to share that this service was informed by these two books: Hitler’s American Model: The United States and the Making of Nazi Race Law, by James Q. Whitman; and The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America, by Richard Rothstein.
