Our Ministers

Our congregation was founded in 1897 by a group of women seeking liberal religious education for their children and has a history of long-term settled ministry.

Rev. Anya Sammler-Michael

Central to Rev. Anya's current ministry is the honest confrontation necessary to dismantle white supremacy, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, and sexism.

Is Love’s Labour Ever Truly Lost?

Is Love’s Labour Ever Truly Lost?

February 12, 2023

“Is Love's Labor Ever Truly Lost?” — led by the Rev. Scott Sammler-Michael, senior co-minister. We too often think of love as transactional —believing we should receive something in return. But love is its own reward. Join us as we explore the nature of 'Agape" love — the unrequited, unconditional love for all humankind. Rev. Scott preaches. Inter Sabrina shares testimony. Music fills our hearts and our sanctuary.

The Home That Love Made

The Home That Love Made

February 5, 2023

The Home That Love Made” - led by the Rev. Anya Sammler-Michael, senior co-minister. Most of the commitments that we make are grounded in relationships of love. Love compels us to make promises. It links us to others. It forges connections that we refuse to forsake. This congregation is the home that love made. Our service offers solace after the attacks of hate near and far, our choir will sing, and we will hear testimony.

Narrative Freedom

Narrative Freedom

January 29, 2023

"Narrative Freedom"- led by the Rev. Andrée Cornelia Mol, guest minister. Author Thomas King writes: “The truth about stories is that’s all we are.” Yet, not all of us have the freedom to tell our own stories. If we are to honor each other and our interdependence, if we are to allow for a responsible search for truth and meaning, we need to create space for each person to own their own narrative. Using examples from popular culture as well as recent events, specifically events related to the continued fight for trans rights, we’ll explore the power of personal narrative, and the power-struggle behind narrative that exists for those of us on the margins.

Molly, UUCM Religious Education graduate

I am proud to have grown up in this congregation. I learned here to become a compassionate and passionate advocate for social justice on all fronts.

Join us as we counter white supremacy, fight climate change, protect voting rights, witness border injustices, and more.
