Hi Garden Team,
We decided to ‘launch’ the garden this coming weekend beginning on Friday March 31st from 4-6pm, and then regathering on Sunday April 2nd from 11:30am-1:30pm.
Bring garden gloves. There are lots of tools in the shed, but if you have a shovel, it might be nice to have a few more for our work.
To Do at Launch:
- Carve out new growing area along the chainlink fence
- Add compost to the bins
- Put together the new metal bin and add soil
- Plant seeds according to Anne (and Jon’s) Garden Plan
- Set up the Giant Squash Trellis (Rev. Anya is bringing)
- Prepare area for Strawberries
- Prepare area for Raspberries
- Prepare area for Blueberries
To Do Soon:
- Finalize a text stream for communications (Nancy)
- Set a Watering Schedule (Brad)
- Mosquito Proof the Area
- Look for standing water
- Clean out gutters
- Add mosquito dunks to any standing water that we can’t remove.
- Add washers to the hose so that it doesn’t leak
- Make hanging strawberry beds out of pallets
- Clean up and set-up the Garden Shed.
- Watering Assignments – per week, two people
- Figure out when folks will be out of town
- Develop a text list
- Put up a Whiteboard on the Shed
